What's your take on Hunters?

I will be buying a boat in the next 7 years as a cruiser in the Caribbean. My budget and hypothetical needs keep bringing me to Hunter 42's and other similar boats but Hunter seems to suffer from a bad reputation. Exactly what would be bad about owning a 25 year old Hunter 42? Thanks for your thoughts and wisdom. * Edit to add: does anyone have any personal experience or know of any real issues with build quality and what bad stuff to look for?
