Great pics! Ole looks like he's having a blast.
He's gonna be good at his job!
Ole, beautiful pup, doing what setters are programmed to do. Our second setter, Lizzie came from Iowa. A total love bug. Thank you for the pictures of another of the Best Dogs Ever.
What is the purpose of a shock collar around his belly?
The e-collar on the belly is for woah and steadiness training. Reinforces that woah means "Stop! don't move" if the dog is going toward danger (road, cliff, etc.) Steadiness on point, not creeping/busting the bird. Staying steady to wing (the bird is flushed), steady to shot (the shot is taken), and steady to fall (the bird has fallen to the ground). A few sessions, and the dog learns that the stim is controlled by their actions. A steady dog is predictable in where it is positioned. A dog that breaks early or on low bird could get in your sight picture late. Steady to fall also allows the dog to get a mark on the retrieve.
Who’s he training with? Live bird training I assume?
Yes, he’s been on pigeons and they are getting quail soon. Prairie pursuits Gundogs near Hartley IA
Hey I actually picked up my puppy near Hartley!
He came out of a kennel in Sioux rapids. Little Sioux kennels.
