Aqara P2 door sensor + HomePod to replace Nest Secure?

How to...? 🧑‍🔧

New here, and trying to learn more about the Aqara offerings. I'm currently using a soon-to-be-defunct Nest Secure system for my home security. Looking at my options for replacing and closely mimicking the functionality of the Nest system. The Aqara P2 door and window sensors seem to fit the bill for replacing the Nest Detect sensors, however I'm a bit confused as to what to pair them with in terms of a hub.

Aqara has a couple hubs, the M1S and the M2. But the P2 sensors are Matter-enabled which, if I understand correctly, means I can pair these P2 sensors with an Apple HomePod, and set up automations via HomeKit to play audio alerts if/when door sensors are triggered. Is that accurate? No Aqara-branded hub required in this scenario? Sensors + HomePod = done?

I work from home all day, every day. So my security system doesn't need to be terribly robust. I'm looking for audible alerts at night while we're asleep, and notifications to my phone when we're out, both of which should be handled by the HomePod if I understand correctly.

Appreciate any advice or feedback if anyone has a similar setup.
