Those blasted shards. Are they even worth it? [no spoilers]

Playing lnquisition for the first time, first game in the series for me. I actually love the game, got a recommendation for it after finishing AC Odyssey which l also loved.

But! I hate hate HATE trying to collect the shards! I wouldn't mind getting them if they weren't hidden up on extremely difficult to get to ledges, on top of buildings where you have to climb and jump with, let's face it, rudimentary at best movement mechanics. And don't get me started on the Forbidden Oasis, that is a ragequit waiting to happen.

There better be some fantastic reward for spending hours trying to endlessly jump up on just too high rocks or finally figuring out where to start only to fall a bajillion times and using all the healing potions from fall damage.

So. Are they worth it?
