New to Blink - Confused about how to set everything up properly

NEW USER

I recently moved from Kami (cameras) and Alarm.com Skybell (doorbell camera) to an all Blink system. I have 2 Blink XT cameras, 4 Blink Mini, 1 Blink doorbell and a sync module 2 (also have a sync module 1 that isnt setup anymore). Little confused on how everything is setup tho to record. Right now the doorbell and XT Cameras are in "home" with the sync module and the each mini camera has its own location? I want the Doorbell camera to record all motion detection no matter what time of day, but currently it only seems to record when the Home system is armed (I dont want the Blink XT to constantly be recording motion all day because it will kill their batteries). Is there anyway to have the Doorbell always recording motion detection and not the rest? The system is a lot less intuitive then the Alarm.com system I was coming from.

For all the cameras except the Minis:

You need each 'group' (system) on it's own sync module to control it. So, one sync module for the Doorbell, another sync module for the XT cameras (are you sure they're XT's? XT's are discontinued since 2021).

Each Blink Mini can act as its own sync module so can be in its own group (system).

So in total you will have 6 systems. Those 6 systems can be controlled independently of each other.

That should get you what you want!

Remember though, Blink kit only records short clips AFTER they are triggered, they do not record 24/7 and cannot be used like a CCTV system. They will mostly miss the actual trigger as it takes a few seconds to power up and gain a WiFi signal from sleep.

Edited. Sorry about that, didnt realize it would make that a link (it is the actual name of the company).

So I have to have physical different sync modules? That seems a little excessive.. no?

No worries!

Yes, you'll need 2 sync modules and to group the devices as above. Should be fine then unless I'm misunderstanding...

Thankfully I had the Sync Module 1 (Yes they are XT not XT2 cameras... I have had them for a long time since they were some of the best battery operated cameras). Recently I started upgrading to more blink products. No reason to have the XT cameras on the sync 2 module since they cant record locally so I just setup the system as you described and seems to be working. I guess I alarm the Doorbell camera 24/7 for it to record all motion?

Nice! Yes, arm it 24/7 for it to do that, but perhaps keep an eye on it for the first day or so to be sure you won't be inundated with hundreds of triggers.

Have had issues with mine recently at 2 different houses wifi. They are either gonna have to make their devices 5ghz or lose customers. The connectivity is poor in general
