AITA for leaving my boyfriend and driving off??
me (23f) and my boyfriend (33m) live together and work at the same hospital. when we are working the same shift we’ll go in together to save fuel etc, however we are always late because my boyfriend has absolutely no timekeeping skills and it just looks awful and unprofessional considering we are working in a busy hospital. the other day it was my turn to drive us both to work, and I, sick of being late, said that if he wasn’t ready by 6:30am then i am just going to leave. i had said this the night before as well and he said he would make sure he was ready. naturally, 6:30 rolled around and he wasn’t ready, and i was standing by the door ready to go, so i called up to him to say i was leaving and then off i went. about 5 mins into my journey i got a call from him asking me where the f*ck was i and can i come back to get him. i said no, i want to get to work on time and i said when i was going to leave.
he turned up 25 mins after me (we are both so fortunate to have our own cars, so it wasn’t as if he couldn’t get to work) and he wasn’t happy. he wouldn’t talk to me, so he was texting me saying things like “i can’t believe you just left me” and “you’re so f’ing childish”. he didn’t speak to me the WHOLE 13.5 hour shift and we had a huge row when we got home about how i don’t care about him and that’s why i left without him. i just kept saying to him that i’m sick of being late and i wanted to get to work on time for once.
AITA for leaving without him? i know it wasn’t the most mature thing to do but i hate being late! however i don’t think it justifies him calling me childish and not talking to me for the whole day.
