Curls for short hair ?!

Hi everyone!

I have a pixie cut length short hair— and it is PAINFULLY bone straight. However, it does have color on it— so I do not think that a perm is something I can do right now but I really love curly hair. Does anyone have any recommendation/styling tips for achieving either curls (product, tools, etc— even how to regarding the tools) or even just vintage short hair styled “waves”? Thank you sooo much.
