How often are there high winds along the coast?

I'm from out of state, traveling through the Oregon coast for the first time. My partner and I were in Gold Beach a few days ago and got out of the car a few times to enjoy the beach. We experienced some of the strongest winds we've ever encountered, with the wind blowing so hard that there was sand whipping in our eyes lol. Got back in the car pretty quickly.

Just curious, was this a one-off? Is Gold Beach especially windy?
