Legal advice for using private business dumpster

As the title states, I was helping my girlfriend move a few bags of trash this morning, we went to our city dump however it was closed. To my dismay my girlfriend drove across the street to where a couple of businesses/ restaurants were located. She located a dumpster and we threw the 2-3 bags of trash in there. I did not feel comfortable doing so, however I did agree and participate in the act. Im not sure why I agreed to this, however I did and I know this carries criminal penalties of a Misdemeanor or fine most likely. I have a pretty prestigious career that Im proud of and realize this jeopardizes it greatly. Just curious if there's anything I can do to get out in front of this, incase this was looked investigated in some way. I've considered contacting the business and apologizing and maybe offering some sort of monetary compensation or even contacting legal counseling in preparation. I do not believe we were noticed or filmed in anyway.
