BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM; Slayer Vanguard Build
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, I WANT YOU IN MY CROSSHAIRS
An intersection of the persecution of the raving underclass coming to a head and the discovery of the Charon Relay occurred in 2149. The simple pleasures of licking base speed off of a semi-homeless woman's hand had been all but stamped out in the Sol System. Upon reactivation of the Charon Mass Effect relay access to a whole galaxy outside of Ian the Community Support Officer's (what the fuck power do they have anyway? NONE! he just ends up calling the REAL POLICE when we're just trying to have a GOOD FUCKING TIME. noise complaint my crotch) reach to hold impromptu raves was realised and shitty techno and fucking bassline spread throughout the galaxy (why the fuck do volus like that shitty music so much anyway???).
This is inspired by a comment I read in a post yesterday (something along the lines of Biotic Charge it, teleport back, PD it).
Reasoning:
Biotic Charge is set up for Radius, Power Synergy and Barrier restore. Radius is for group stagger; the damage/force is nice but that's not your main source of damage and we're not aiming for single target effectiveness. Power Synergy is to soup up Phase Disruptor. Barrier is a no brainer.
Phase Disruptor is set up for Damage, Efficient Blast and Armour Damage. Damage and Radius are pretty interchangeable. The end damage difference is negligible (+200 or so for damage over radius with max conumables/gear) and I actually like both, so be liberal. Efficient Blast is for getting more PDs off. Armour damage is because more things get their shields stripped fast. You can use either, though.
Biotic Slash fuck that for a packet of biscuits, what a stupid power.
N7 Slayer is set for Damage AMPERSAND Capacity, Power Damage, Weapon Weight. Each choice is to soup up PD, and weapon weight, while intechangeable, is set up not to disrupt ((hur hurr) Biotic Charge/Phase Disruptor synergy. You should have a ~180% cooldown depending on your Falconry (da fuck r u on about?? Don't worry, read ahead).
Fitness is set up for health. You can stick it all in melee if that's your bag but for safety I like Durability, Shield Recharge and Fitness Expert.
Gear is set as Mental Focuser, Power Amplifier, Assault Rifle Amp and Cryo/Incendiary/Disruptor ammunition. Phase Disruptor will set off explosions, so your ammo is selected with this goal in mind. The rest are to soup up damage. You can toss in survivability mods (Cyclonic, Stronghold Package) if that's your bag.
Weaponry selection is the Falcon. You can literally just spam the trigger** along with hitting Phase Disruptor and they fire alongside eachother. With Cryo Ammo you both debuff and slow your enemies which is a massive boon. With Incendiary Ammo you can set off Fire Explosions most every Phase Disruptor blast. Disruptor Ammo is ok too! It should be noted that any decent weaponry works well on this guy. An Acolyte works great as does a Hurricane (stability mod it!). If you're applying an ammo power before every PD you're doing it right basically.
Playstyle:
Just mash all the power buttons and the trigger**. Charge it, teleport (that means dodge, the action button) back, spam the rest of your buttons. Don't be stupid and Phase Disrupt when you're in a tough spot. You can fire the Falcon and PD at the same time to make things BOOM.
You're an absolute stagger machine. Between Charge, PD and the Falcon mooks just stumble around while they blow up.
Rampant abuse of soft cover (left side cover behind a box/wall/etc: right hand advantage) is better for taking on bosses head on. If you fell pressured, abuse your insane mobility (dodge, Charge) to get the hell out of there.
Your light melee (just pressing the melee button three times in succession) grants massive damage resistance, meaning used at the right time you can shrug off salvos from enemies such that they just end up peppering your shields. Use and abuse this. The heavy melee is a forwards teleport, which can be abused a bit like a dodge. Be warned that the heavy melee and the dodge both eat a little barriers and reset the barrier recharge cooldown (if you're at 0 shields and you dodge, the time it takes for your shields to recharge will be reset). This doesn't matter much if you dodge/heavy melee around a lot because you avoid the meat of the damage then can just Charge to bring the barriers back up.
Appearance: As gaudy and as bright as possible. The bright turquoise is a great choice.
Comments:
I've heard people espouse the power of this class in melee but I never liked it. I'm not big on melee on any class other than the Batarians (especially the Vanguard/Adept with Lash: the slide is just pure B movie horror baddie; stupid and brilliant [the motion blur fast thing is my Slayer flying right past your stupid slideBatarian fuck you]). Phase Disruptor has always seemed nice, but with the Fire Explosion changes it shines.
I hope you enjoy this writeup and I hope you enjoy playing with this class. I welcome any comments or feedback and will update if you expose something I've missed. Happy BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM.
**for PC players i guess this is the mouse button??// or something?
