My custom Fangs of Morkai SW Successor chapter lore dump, cause I’m bored and can’t sleep.
The Fangs of Morkai are a successor chapter of the Space Wolves. They were founded from the remains of a Heresy era fleet, lost in the warp until sometime in M38. As such the chapter is able to field heresy Technology in much greater quantities then most other chapters. Their insignia is that of a double headed wolf.
they are a nomadic fleet based chapter, who recruit from worlds they pass by. often, they will build outposts and settlements on worlds they fought on.
the chapter is lead by the Konungr, or high king, currently Bruni Borson, and is made up of a relatively small band of veterans that serve as the personal guard to the Konungr, then several Great Companies, with the Wolf, Rune and Iron priests each forming their own organizations outside of the Great Companies, joining them as needed.
Companies are lead by a Jarl, who have several veterans under him that serve as his lieutenants and Help command subgroups of the company, especially when splitting up to tackle different theaters of combat. outside of the command structure there is at least one Rune priest, Iron priest and Wolf priest, but more are present depending on the size of a Company
The Jarls of each company, along with the head of the Rune, Wolf and Iron priests will meet once A year to hold a Thing and make decisions about the chapters future, presided over my the Konungr.
Generally, Companies fight by themselves and as one force, but for massive battles companies will join forces. Companies will also split up to attack multiple warzones if need be. Additionally, certain companies prefer to work in extremely small squads, attaching themselves to a different company to complete their task.
originally there were 7 Great Companies of the Fangs of Morkai, but Jarls can campaign to the Konungr to form new ones and went into the 41st millennium with 9 companies. The chapter was in what would become the Imperium Nihilus when the Cadia fell and the Great Rift opened. Due to the growing need for the chapters aid among the beleaguered systems, the chapter was expanded massively, growing to 17 Great Companies.
The Great Companies range in size from the smallest at 80 some members, to the largest company at over 650, however most companies are around 350-400 marines strong. Most Companies are generalists, bringing armor, heavy support, battleline and assault units however some are hyper specialized, such as the Frost Wraiths, a company focused entirely on stealth and infiltration.
