Unpopular opinion: Mike was right. Sarah was being disrespectful to Kay Kay and Kenan.

UNPOPULAR OPINION

When Kenan was announced as the boy with the least votes, he was immediately dumped from the island. Kay Kay decided to leave with Kenan, and communicated as much to Sarah and the other islanders.

After she walked with Kenan to the bench, and sat down, Sarah asked Kay Kay, "Are you happy with the decision you just made."

It was in that moment that Mike spoke up. He said that the question from Sarah was "mad disrespectful."

My sense is that he thought that Sarah's question was disrespectful to Kay Kay because it questioned her ability to make decisions. The host had to ask Kay Kay twice if she wanted this choice, presumably suggesting that Kay Kay either was not aware of the choice she had made, or was wrong and needed to justify her choice. I saw Mike's comment as primarily defensive of Kay Kay in particular.

The thing is. We all think Kenan sucks. So we dont mind that Sarah is disrespecting Kay Kay or Kenan, because we no longer respect them. But Mike doesnt know that. He is just evaluating the presence or absence of disrespect in the moment.

When Jonah made his decision, Sarah didnt ask him twice.

nope. Sarah would've asked that to anyone who decided to leave with someone who got dumped. you really thought you ate? ...

She didnt ask that to Jonah and he literally did the same thing.

idc. it was so obvious she didn't mean it that way. yall really trippin for no reason. btw she did ask someone that but it was last season. stop tryna make something out of it. Mike was disrespectful for no reason and that's why his ass got dumped. BYE.

I mean yeah a few minutes after one of the islanders acted up when she asked it

She may have asked him as well, but it likely wasn’t aired. You ever thought about that before accusing Sarah of being disrespectful?

Erm…maybe because she already was called “mad disrespectful” the first time… 🥴😂

She said are you sure you want to leave with Taylor

Congratulations on correctly using the unpopular opinion flair 😅 Most ones I see tagged with it are actually very common opinions.

I don't have the same interpretation personally 🤷

LMAO The level of fanfiction and reaching you’re creating here

Do you understand how television production and show hosting worked?

Sarah asked Kay Kay because Kay Kay’s decision was a surprise. She didn’t ask Jonah (or she must have asked him too, but it wasn’t aired) is because they already expected that something like this could happen.

Production requires the host to ask questions like this so that a contestant is guaranteed sure that they have made the right decision.

Sarah had no malicious reasoning behind asking that question to Kay Kay. It was all required of her to ask as the host of the show and to make sure she had no second thoughts about it.

This is such a weird post and it made me giggle 🤭

Mike was definitely defending Keenan not Kay Kay, like saying Sarah was implying Kenan isn’t worth leaving the villa for. But either way she didn’t ask it disrespectfully at all. It makes sense for a host to ask if someone is certain before disqualifying themselves from a competition show

I dont think we know whether Mike was defending Kenan or Kay Kay or both. He was at least defending one of them.

And the host didnt ask Jonah the same question she asked Kay Kay.

How do you know she didn’t ask Jonah the same questions too? Do you think they put everything that happens during the moment on the episodes and not edit some things out?

Also, Kay Kay did it first. Like everyone else is saying, it’s normal for the host to ask the person if they’re certain. Jonah had just witnessed someone else decide to leave, so asking him twice would be redundant.

You understand that she wears an ear piece and someone probably told her to ask KayKay again? It's all done for flair and drama.

She's the host. She's supposed to ask these types of questions and make sure the audience hears them. If they can't handle it, they shouldn't be on a show based on 24/7 relationship exposure.

Yeah id bet the host and producers ask them tons of questions all the time. Most of it gets cut so it looks like the islanders are just explaining their perspective naturally. Its part of her job to get them talking about their feelings.

I think the sting of being wrongly and publicly reprimanded at all initially would make one be hesitant to repeat the question again, no? Let alone by a weak minded soft ego boy that thinks he knows more about her JOB than she does. I forget we have seen him on so many tv sets we should know that he would know better than her. 🙄

Yup that probably is an unpopular opinion... because Mike was wrong. He was the only one being disrespectful.

No she wasn't.

I disagree lol.

This is a reality TV show. The host is required to ask questions like that and I’m sure she was told to do so. This isn’t Sarah acting on her own, she is being filmed and sticking to a script.

Yes this is an unpopular opinion

I disagree but I'm upvoting because this is an actual unpopular opinion unlike most so 👌

I agree but seems like there’s a trend of love island fans to over criticize black men lol

I feel like she just had to ask since Kay Kay made a quick decision to leave. I don't think there was anything else to it.

This is her job. Do you think this was a question she just thought of on the fly? This is a highly produced show lol.

BFFR. She asked Kay Kay because Keenan treated Kay Kay like an option for the entire time they were coupled up. He also LIED to her about what he was up to in casa with Nahja.

Whereas Jonah has been SET on his couple since the moment he met her. The two relationships aren't even remotely comparable.

Sarah had every right to ask Kay Kay that question given how disrespectful Keenan has moved in the villa and given the fact that she is quite literally the host. Mike acted as if she directly offended Keenan when that wasn't the case. I don't understand how anyone can defend Mike's actions that night when it's obvious he was out of line for accusing the host of being disrespectful when she quite literally wasn't. The man was out of line period.
