Short softlock rant.
Fair warning to everyone, selling random junk can sotflock yourself in regards to the shadow curse. I let the pixie go after capturing the moonlantern, then backtracked to the mountain pass to do a bunch of content that I hadn't seen yet. At some point, days later, I sold the Filigreed bell, an item that protects you from the curse, to the quartermaster in the Githyanki base. At the time, I didn't realize how important the item was. It isn't marked as anything special and kinda just blends in with all the other junk. Then I did all of the content in that zone, killed the quartermaster, went back to the shadow lands and cleared everything possible to do without going into the area with the more powerful curse, then spent another three hours looking for the damned bell only to realize that the merchant I sold it too was dead. The fact that the bell is very important and can be sold, then lost forever, leaving the player no choice but to take massive damage from the shadow curse or reload a save potentially hours earlier is really stupid.
This is the sort of thing that could be solved by tagging the item as unsellable or giving us access to the console so we can spawn in one item to fix the problem. Backtracking on several day's progress and redoing most of an entire zone because of one item really sucks all the fun out of the game. I hope Larian marks important items like the Filigreed Bell as unsellable or makes it so they always drop from merchants to fix this for other players.

The inventory system is the biggest issue of BG3. It's a mess, a huge timesink, and no real way to order things appropriately.
