Anyone here have any experience with (or opinions of) fanned-fret classical guitar?

I've recently been listening to a lot of Plinio Fernandes, which is an amazing brazilian guitarist that I recommend you all to go listen to. And one of the guitars I see him playing a lot is a fanned-fret one.

Are there any advantages to playing such an instrument? And if so, would it be worth it for the average classical guitar student such as myself to invest in a fanned-fret instrument?
