Why does best buy not ship digital collector edition games early?

After about 2 hours on live chat with someone who clearly didn't understand my question of "Will my item be at my house on the day of release?" I finally was told that it would be shipped ON the 1st, and 3-5 days later(but up to 10) I'd receive it. I wanted to do pickup, but that wasn't an option up to 1000 miles.

They also stated I would receive the games code via email, which is impossible as far as Bethesda has told me because it is engraved on an item inside the package.

So my question is has anyone found that these things ship faster? The date of early access starts the 1st, but it's also a holiday weekend.
