We're getting a lot of cool Polish maps lately, but this might be my favorite. It would not have taken too many historical changes to make this a reality; this looks exactly like something that could have emerged from the real-world 1814 Treaty of Paris.
That was the idea, thank you!
So, at least now it's a more "accurate" version. Maybe the Russians annex the Suvalki region, but i like how it looks on Poland better.
"Independent Kingdom of Poland" should be translated as "Niepodległe Królestwo Polskie" though
Shit. I even remembered checking it twice. Thanks for the correction.
no problemo, tbf i kind of thought that it was supposed to say "Map of Independent Kingdom of Poland", in which case "Mapa Niepodległego Królestwa Polskiego" would work actually
I see. Consider as if the word "Mapa" is written in white then lol
Awesome map, love to see that you fixed it.
Constructive criticism really works. Thank you once again.
Whose side would they join in the WW1?
Most likely trying to stay neutral but ending up with the French and British as allies
The name is in the genitive case for some reason.
"corrected" "idependent"
Not sure what the exact background lore of this is, but an independent Poland would potentially have included Bialystok, as the city was part of the land Prussia had annexed during the 3rd partition and only became part of "core" Russia after the treaty of Tilsit.
Based on the other borders, it seems like the treaty still happened, and Posnan was still taken from Poland, yet since Poland is independent and Krakow is part of it, I assume some Napoleonic shenanigans happened and Russia was on weaker negotiating terms? If that's the case, it's possible Bialystok would've been returned to Poland, perhaps as compensation for the loss of Posnan.
Very interesting, it could be considered. The idea was mainly to explore who’d be a potential candidate for this hypothetical Polish throne, but for this Russia did worse in the war, yes.
This is a better version of yesterday's map. Now revised and corrected, so the old map is now deleted.
Thank you to everyone who helped me, special thanks to u/Pillum221 for the corrections.
Lore:
Poland gains its independance as a Kingdom in the Congress of Vienna instead of becoming a Personal Union of Russia. The King elected is the, then young, Georg of Saxe-Altenburg, as a compromise candidate (and a member of the House of Wettin). Georg most likely converts to Catholicism as soon as he assumes his role as King of Poland, passing all his future claims to the Duchy of Saxe-Altenburg to his younger brother Prince Eduard.
The Free City of Krakow is never formed and it becomes the Polish capital.
