Am I the only one who has issues with the Matchmaking this Season?

During the last three Seasons I stayed pretty comfy in mid Diamond but since the start of Season five I have been practically on one big fall downwards. Currently hovering around mid Plat but considering how my games are going I wouldn‘t be surprised ending it with Gold or even silver.

And during all of this I don‘t even know what happened. I turned a consistent 50-60% winrate into a measly 33%. Every game feels like a complete stomp where my team barely puts up a threat. I lost 15 games in a row twice.

This somewhat of a vent because I seriously don‘t know what to do anymore. It‘s like the matchmaking purposefully drops me the most frustrating matches that are over before they even began.

Does anyone have similar experiences or did I just lose my entire skill during one week?

I started the seasson plat 2 and just got team mates who had the game sense of a spoon and dropped to gold 4 but since like 3days ago I've gotten good matchmaking but I'm not surprised matchmaking is always dogshit for the first 2 to 3 weeks of the seasson

I usually had the same but this season it‘s completely different. Like I physically can‘t win.

Like there is frustrating and losing nearly 30 matches in a row.

Yeah dude I can't lie at that point I'd either stop playing support or stop playing for a while

Maybe, I enjoy playing the game but at the moment it feels like it tries to bully me away.

All my matches are like 33% win rate now. I just got out of a match where a Reinhardt was begging a mercy to do something

Exact same thing happened to me. Went from D1 to plat, extremely long losing streaks. Honestly it made me stop playing. Now I just play 1-2 QP matches every few days. No idea what is with the matchmaking but really makes me not want to play the game.

I haven’t touched Support in Comp because of how bad my DPS games have been. I was steadily climbing to Masters on DPS, then dropped to plat somehow.

I’m dropping 50 elim games like nothing and my team still loses.

Nah, I’ve climbed in both MH and Open Q this season, so it’s not the matchmaker since last patch or something.

Personally, if I’m playing comp and hit three frustrating losses in a row, I’m done with comp for at least a day. I don’t pick it back up for that specific role or whatever until I’m not sweating it.

If you’re 0-3, you gotta buckle down and do your best to end at 5-5 or better — that means at least 5 games with very focused mental and positive attitude. That’s not easy for most people, so losses snowball. And once you’ve started losing, the system thinks you’re skill is deteriorating, so you have to work even harder to dig yourself out of the hole to get back to where you used to be.

Climbing requires a lot of discipline. Once you drop a rank, you gotta be mentally prepared to win 30+ games, which can mean playing 50 games as hard as you can just to get back to where you started. Much, much easier to just not derank in the first place.

I have been kinda doing this except it's really just me login on to get my five loses and then stopping to play. It's also not like I am not trying or giving up on games but it really doesn't matter in the end.

I overall wouldn't really mind if this was some change in MMR calculating or me taking a long break from the game. It's just that I was doing all fine up to Season 5, had one week where I didn't play any Competitive and since then have been in some comical losing streak.

And getting repeated matches like this just seems de-moralizing.

In the end I really don't get why. I can't explain why I would have a year worth of the same performance only for it to completely bellyflop in the span of a few days.

I mean it definitely sounds like you’re mentally checked out and you’re always gonna be playing against 5 people that really want to win, so until you feel better about the game in general, you’ll probably continue to lose.

It’s a tough spot to be in and the only way out is to play really well, a lot. If you want to climb, stop worrying about the matchmaker and your team’s gameplay and do your best to carry every game. You’re the only person you can count on and you’ll have to continually play better than 5 other strangers if you want to rank up.

Absolutely. Countless teams who just afk at checkpoints pressing random buttons, ignoring the reaper thing right in front of their face with death blossom, tanks chasing the sombra to the other side of the map while their team rolls thru, and teams who NEVER DO ANYTHING BUT STAND THERE AND EXPECT THE ENEMY TO GIVE UP SPACE.

I can’t say I’ve had everyone else’s experiences, but I do think that It maybe because I’m still pretty new to comp and I haven’t settled into a rank yet. I ended last season plat 5, but in less than a month later I was able to hit diamond. Even now I’m still maintaining around a 75 ish percent win rate. Other roles I’m struggling in gold and silver still but I’ll admit that’s just because I’m bad.

I am literally in the same boat (from D2 to P5...). ever since the season started my matches have been so lobsided. im literally getting ranked now due to 15 losses and not 5 wins.

What I kinda find suspicious is that a lot of people I play with have like a total of maybe 20 matches during all seasons and yet are Platin or Diamond.

No matter if you are wining or losing, throw in an unranked Mystery Heroes match every few games to break up the grind and regain your appreciation for hero selection

I dropped from Plat 2 to Gold 2. The last few weeks i find myself playing the game for 3-4 matches in a row, then quitting. Shit is getting too frustrating

Brigitte did get a rather hefty nerf to her shield health. Having 250hp instead of 300 really sucks as you are far more likely to lose shield and therefore access to shield bash before it breaks.

Sometimes, when character's kits change with updates, player weaknesses can be highlighted more extremely. Do you have a replay code of just any game you have played recently? I could possibly suggest where issues could lie.
