Does anyone else actually use Berserk? In the right situation, I think it’s actually pretty fun and can be super useful

I used it (well, corruption) a lot in HZD but it was a bit overpowered there. It's much less powerful in HFW so I ignored it until Burning Shores, where it really came into its own with one of the legendary weapons and using it for crowd control. I think I used it for the big fight with the waterwings and thunderjaw vs slaughterspine. There are other ways to achieve the same outcome but this was way more fun.

I’m in the exact same boat. Didn’t use it at all until we got some new additions in the Burning Shores. Berserk Blast is super fun to use

Possibly the most fun thing to do in the whole game series is at the spot in the Carja borderlands near the two corrupted rock breakers, the snapmaws and the shellwalker convoy. There might even be a behemoth around there somewhere. Override or corruption a couple of them, hide and watch them all fight each other until nobody's left.

I started using it later in the game when I got the marshal Hunter bow, it’s actually pretty useful when there’s a couple smaller machines and a bigger one, or an apex with a couple regulars. They can take some hits so you don’t have to, and by the time berserk ends it’ll only take one or two arrows to finish em off

Yeah totally agree! It’s a super efficient way to deal with groups of machines especially when there’s a really big one in the mix

I loved corruption in HZD, but sell any berserk weapon in HFW. It has never once worked for me.
I don't know why, but I've tried using it a dozen times, getting numerous machines into berserk state and they still ignore every enemy nearby and all attack me from max range. Had full berserk Thunderjaws right next to each other and they didn't even look at each other.

It is great in the Arena, when using the berserk valor surge.

Not worth it.
The amount of effort (i.e. getting in range, trigger it, but also make sure you can LoS the berserked machine that it attacks other machines too and not just attacked by others).
And then hoping the AI is mercyful and does something instead of taunt animations and that you win the knockown lottery i.e. "your" machine knocks the other down = Win...other way around = well less worse then as machine master.
And then there is the short duration... no thanks.
Fixes = Longer Duration, accelerated AI decisions (also for MM), target reset (so it does not go for Aloy) and maybe put it on another Weapon, Sharpshot Bows could be preem for this.

totally right, paris. I don't think anyone would argue that it's the most efficient way to take out machines, but it's still pretty fun every once in a while! I did think about adding a section to the video about suggestions for "how to make Berserk better", but didn't want to make it too long. these are super good suggestions. Berserk sharpshot bow would definitely be the way to go so machines could fight it out at a distance and they wouldn't go after Aloy. And yeah, 50% of the time you hit a machine with Berserk, they just kinda stand around not really doing much of anything

My first playthrough I really wanted a weapon that was like the corruption arrows, but didn't even know berserk existed.
By the time I got to my now completed second playthrough, my paystubs changed so much from the first game, I didn't care anymore.
But man, curious arrows from hzd were so much fun. I'll have to write myself a note for next time in FW to try berserk out

I would use it more often (had fun with it in Burning Shores where it actually did what it was meant to do) if the resource for it wasn't so rare and hard to get.

I just can’t get it to be useful enough. The strategy: berserk a machine, pick off stragglers in the chaos! The actual situation: machine either aggros Aloy as normal and is a waste of a stealth attack, or machine literally goes and stands somewhere, does nothing and berserk times out. Not tried valor surge yet.

I've started using it on the smaller machines when fighting a big one. They end up taking a load of damage and knockdown from the attacks of the bigger one
Yeah that strategy works really well. It’s a good use of the Berserk Blast VS as well cause you can inflict Berserk on the bigger one straight away
