*I’m sorry for the poor formatting as I’m on mobile*
I feel really silly for not knowing this but as a single woman, with no living family, I have no one to ask. I asked in a local mom group and basically got called an idiot for not knowing 😢. In another subreddit, someone suggested asking here. I’m looking for any tips to help not burn the house down or cause an electrical outage. My kid and I are decorating for Halloween-we have 6-8 inflatables for the yard + a light projector. At the very least, we want 4 of them up for sure.
I have attached photos but I only have one outdoor plug , located on my front porch, that has two plug spots in it. The outdoor plug does have a box lid type thing over it, but only covers it while nothing is plugged into it. I have several extension cords and a single attachment that has 3 plug spots. It feels incredibly unsafe to have it all plugged in to each other. Also, somehow a wasp nest was made inside the plug box cover so i had to clean that out which has made me even more nervous about using the plugs.
What I’m really trying to find, is an option for like a single box that I can plug in multiple outdoor plugs into. Is it safe to plug in multiple extension cords in something like that? Something with a timer would be amazing to have, to conserve energy. And on that note, what do I do when it’s going to rain/storm/snow? Do I just unplug it all? It seems like a lot of work to unplug it and move it into the garage every time, but I don’t know how else to not ruin the plugs and the inflatable fans. I figured there must be some sort of electrical contraption made for things like this but I have genuinely no idea how to even begin looking for it. I have extreme social anxiety, so the thought of going to Lowe’s and having to ask this makes me feel nauseous and stupid. I have of course gone to google for answers, but am seeing so many different suggestions-half of which require doing electrical work which I would never ever attempt to do. Hiring an electrician or handy man is out of the question/budget. Any genuine help would be appreciated so very much. TIA!
