Pretty sure you attacked a tank dummy. They smack back and get stronger over time

Typical DPS player just zugging and ignoring his health bar is surprised when he dies.

Those DPS players usually haven't a HP bar in their UI. So they can focus on their rotation.

It shows how Heroic a player is: the fuller, the better.
Standing in Fire, lower it drastically, so be aware!

tanking dummies, kicking dps's ass since warlords.
(I don't know if they were added in warlords, but it was right next to the regular dummy in the garrison, so you could easily do an aoe and get a one shot out of nowhere)

Tanking training dummies exist, i suspect you found one of those.
