First Time Watching: Half the Plots Solved if They Just Talked??

So I’m watching this the first time and almost done with season 10.

I greatly enjoy the show.

Some episodes and some seasons are better than others, but that’s all shows.

One thing that keeps nagging me is it seems like every single season, or multiple times in a season everything would be solved if they just were honest with each other.

I get the first couple of seasons and lots of tension. OK, I get that. But after some time it is almost a silly trope: OK this is where Sam/Dean lies to Dean/Sam and things go off the rails for no real reason. Again.

Is this a common criticism? Just my particular annoyance?

Again the show is great, but so many times I’m annoyed with this repetitive plot device.
