department head is so passive aggressive..talking to her is like stepping on lego’s

idk what it is with her but the facial expressions she makes every time we talk make me so uncomfortable. anytime i ask her something small she looks at me like i just said the most outrageous thing ever. it makes me squirm talking to her… like i don’t wanna get into too much detail because who knows what if she’s on this reddit.

the other day i had a quick question about my essay and i told her how racism is a cultural phenomenon embedded in american historical culture she was like “umm… no.” i was annoyed but not surprised and i said “well there’s been institutions that have had racism and bias” and shes like “That’s not historical culture. That’s social culture. U should do more research”

Anytime I ask her a question she gives me me the most “umm.. what….” annoyed look and tone and plays devils advocate to the simplest things i say. I am very shy and feel like stabbing myself whenever I have to talk to her and go to her office…

Idk if she has anything against me but honestly it makes me so drained talking to her
