How do people save large amounts of dice?

Genuine question. I see photos and videos of people with 10k plus dice, usually saved up for an event like the choco one we just had. Are there specific methods people use? Is it just collecting daily gifts and playing strategically to get large chunks of dice from smaller tournaments? Pay to win?
