I don’t have hard feelings towards him but this reminds me of Joel Hamling. Delisted by Geelong before given a chance by the Dogs. After two years he bails to Fremantle. At least I got to see a premiership before he left though.

He is worth more to us because we have a weak backline. I see him as a third tall defender; good rebounder and good with the ball, but undersized and completely outmuscled by strong forwards. He is twice as good when Laverde, Ridley and Redman are around him, but struggled once Laverde got injured.
Is in our best 22, and for a team desperate for tall defenders he is probably worth more as a trade for a player than a pick (since Port don't really have anything for offer)

Hes really come on the last 18 months to be a solid afl level defender but is still undersized as a 25 year old so generally gets monstered by the big guys. Hes more suited to the 2nd/3rd tall defender role but is definitely afl calibre in the right setup.
A pick in the 20s is probably true value for him, so ports 37 would be too low. I imagine there are a number of fringe guys that port would be thinking about.
With finlayson and georgiades both signed and dixon still around, i wonder if we can entice either lord or marshall to think about moving...
