Need a laptop for scanning radio frequencies

My budget is around $50 - so used is of course the route I’m going. I need light and decent battery life (4+ hours), but most importantly the ability to install Linux (ideally, the ability to be corebooted as well). I’m thinking some older Chromebook, maybe a Thinkpad 11e or X120e, mostly because they seem upgradable (would like to swap the Wi-Fi card). Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks!
