We rent. I was also hoping they would serve to block out the light coming over when I going to bed but my roomate is still up.

Do you own the apartment or are you renting? Short term I would try putting the sound boards on the ceiling rather than stacking them on top of the wall.

They love charging us for this second “bedroom”.

Is this a converted office? Where is this?

My roomate and I moved into this apartment recently and are at a loss on how to finish this bedroom. The concrete ceiling is amplifying sounds from other rooms and making it hard to sleep. I bought plenty of soundboards (see third photo) but they’re only an inch thick and need to be stacked two high. 

Any ideas on how to make that work and what to do about the lack of door (sliding door, closet folding door, other options?) would be highly appreciated.
