Ulysses is synching - but why so slow?

Ulysses takes a minute to synch a one-line change in a new project from my Mac to iPad, or from iPad to Mac. It continually is taking 1 minute or longer to sync.

Updating notes on Bear2 syncs in 5-6 seconds consistently.

Both use iCloud, so why the discrepancy?
