Where are the young people in Toledo?

I swear this place reminds me of Florida where every where you go there are only 60+ people out. Where do young people hang out here in Toledo? Don't mention downtown where the drinks are 10 bucks each cause I'm just not going to pay that or the $20 to park that is ridiculous!

Dude are you only going to The Heights or Souk? There are plenty of places downtown where drinks aren't bad and parking is only $20 if there's a game and you're parking right by 5/3rd or Huntington Center. Most downtown bars beers are 4-7 bucks.

parking is only $20

only?!?

Street parking is free downtown on the weekends. Check out the Adams street bars, technically uptown but you’ll find the 20s-30s crowd at georgjz the attic and the Ottawa tavern Thursday - Saturday nights

The young people are all going to my standup shows, they are obsessed. The next is September 27, a frantic 32 comedian tournament with sixty second sets at Toledo Spirits (tickets available at claptix.com) And then on October 18, the thing every kid is buzzing about: Conan's Brad Wenzel comes to Earnest Brew Works (tickets available at brad.claptix.com). And they're all crazy about using promo code reddit to save $10.

Can confirm, these shows are incredible

DANG I got excited and got tickets for Wednesday, but my spouse is busy! Might have an extra to donate back if a Reddit stranger wants a freebie

Downtown is my go to spot to hang out. Plenty of bars for under $10 drinks. Where have you checked out?

OP: Where do young people hang out in Toledo!?

Also OP: Don't tell me where they hang out because I don't want to do that!

20-40 year olds hang out in bars in this city. Once a friends group is established, then other activities are usually Mudhens/Walleye games, the Zoo, the Art Museum, or they just hang out at each other's houses.

Toledo isn't really a 'going out' city, unless it's to bars.

Metro parks is where the 30s with children are. Friends or otherwise.

1
winterfoxes•

I don't think that OP is looking to hang out in the families with kids scene, but yeah, metroparks and the zoo are usually the go-tos for families.

What do you call young people

Personally I parked at Toledo Farmer's market, it's free. Adam street got some places to drink, I don't think it was 10$ 😅

Every time I see someone moan about downtown, I have to wonder if they've ever done more than drive through it.

Toggle between garage and street, Shazam.

I DO pay around $10 a drink, but I drink craft cocktails at Souk and Toledo Spirits. Worth every penny.

kalex300•

Toledo Spirit has good drinks, but I have never seen "Young" people there, but I don't know what's young for the OP 😅

1
MissySedaiWest Toledo•

Depends on the day, really. I've gone in late on Fridays and it has been a 20s-30s crowd. Earlier tends to be old facts like me.

Well the answer is downtown... idk where you're paying $10 a drink down there but I definitely don't. Maybe at Toledo Spirits but for a craft cocktail $10 ain't terrible

Earnest in south toledo gets a good young adult turn out. Especially if you have a dog 😊

Go downtown or Adam’s, park on the street and order a PBR you’ll have a cheap night

magicinterneymomey•

Not sure where you are paying $10 a drink. Most downtown bars are $4-8 per drink. Street parking is also free on weekends. Unless there is a Mudhens or Walleye game its easy to find free street parking.

They still have it at Manhattan’s! Attic has $3 PBR tall boy still

Can confirm, spent a lot of time at The Attic in my 20s.

Admittedly it’s because I worked there, but lots of my friends drank there, too.

LOL, I saw that place on my walkabout to the new Glass City Metropark and was amazed by it.

marchtoendGerd•

that fucking place is still there? I thought it mysteriously burned down a few years ago but I might have it confused with another east side bar(s).

I wouldn't even have gone there in my 20s when I wasn't even squeamish about setting foot in east side dives like The Bottom Line and Beer 30

1
RichardtheGingerBossWest Toledo•

It was there on Front St. in July this year. I was amazed that whoever just took an old house in a residential area and, voila!, turned it into Paris Nite Club. Looks like a real classy joint, LOL.

I just looked at the Google Map and realized that Beer Thirty is in the vicinity.

Paris was the most amazing experience. I kinda miss that trashy vibe.

Gotta love the Beer 30 mention! I worked with a dude about 10 years or so ago. Anyway, he bought a 2-story house on Front about a block from good Ole Beer 30. The house was a dump, but honestly, he paid $1500 for it. That's right, $1500.

We ended up ripping off the alumisiding and scrapping that, which he ended up getting over $400 for.

At the time, I wasn't really sure if I would want something like that, his house. Now, looking back, to me, it's obvious he got a great deal on the place. The Maumee is literally across the street.

As I mentioned earlier, the house was a dump--I mean, he only paid $1500. He got it through the city, and he was rather poor himself. I worked construction for quite a few years, so I'm decently handy. The house obviously needed work, but the foundation was solid. It really just needed a lot of cosmetic work. Now, I really wish I would have picked that up for myself.

I might be crazy, well I am crazy, but I feel like the East Side could be on the upswing. At least the first few blocks past the Maumee.

Watch the East Side end up getting all gentrified and yuppied up. Crazier things have happened.

I was thinking this exact thing this summer when I walked through the area.

I walked across the High Level Bridge into that section of East Toledo (Woodville) and thought nope! and then walked along the Maumee through International Park.

When I got to that end of East Toledo at the intersection of Front and Main, I thought, damn, this area has some potential and could appear very different in five to ten years.

Well, if you don’t wanna go downtown, feel free to check out the bars by UT if that’s more your scene…
