Marlo has been overlooked for too long at the overcrowded Downey Shelter in LA County, and he is now living on borrowed time. A final plea was issued for him on 9/13, but no one wanted him. He has been "eligible for euthanasia" since 9/17, meaning he can be killed for space at any time without further warning. He is farther past his plea expiration than any other adoptable dog at Downey. He needs to get out NOW, or those pretty blue eyes will be closed forever.
Playful, friendly boy who takes direction well!
Shelter volunteer: "His big blue eyes will draw you to his kennel. He's always upbeat and approachable." In the yard: "He's a good boy one on one, he will listen and come to you. He does like zoomies which is understandable. He's in the kennel most of the time."
Shelter Recommendations for His Best Home
- Middle School kids and older recommended (but not required), due to Marlo's size and medium energy.
- No other dogs recommended (but not required). Marlo is non-reactive to other dogs, but selective about them. From his evaluation: "He kept to himself for the first few minutes then began hovering around the dogs and growling at them. He walked away as soon as the handler corrected him. Overall, Marlo was selective of the dogs and does not have a playstyle currently."
