I am afraid of long term investing

I am a current university student who wants to start investing in individual stocks after I graduate. I am planning on buying stocks from major companies like Apple and selling them after a few weeks or months because I am afraid of the stock values not recovering or the companies going bankrupt. Am I overreacting?
