What's the fury warrior dps rotation in dungeons for cleaving?

Classic-Era

I'm 50 now and I'm confused what the rotation is for initiating and maintaining good AOE dmg throughout a pull.

  • Charge -> berserker rage/stance -> whirlwind -> spam cleave?
  • Charge -> berserker rage/stance -> whirlwind -> auto for BT/WW?
  • Berserker rage/stance -> battle stance -> charge -> BT -> berserker stance -> spam cleave?

Just some of the things I do sometimes but I'm not entirely sure what's "optimal" Also a little lackluster on current macros.

Would really appreciate some tips.

Not if you’re on a boss bc whirlwind will use to sweeping strikes procs on other mobs

BT is based off AP and cleave is based off weapon damage. Theoretically at a certain point BT > Cleave (assuming rage capped).

BT is 30 rage, so you should calculate it's theoretical damage and divide by 30 to find DPR.

Cleave is 20 rage, but you also lose an auto, and you hit twice. At low AP levels and 2 targets it might beat out BT if you have a good weapon and are rage capped.

I am sure you can math it out with your stats but personally I would always BT on cooldown.

It is most likely depended on your current rage, but I would

Engineering and tanking prio. Mark a Skull.

You don't need to always tank every mob.

That pack of dragon whelps being AoE'd by the imp blizzard mage? Not something you should worry about too much.

The caster add barely doing any damage? Mark it skull and focus on the scary adds.

The big scary hard hitting dragon? Focus that.

Opener should be Charge-> Dynamite -> Sunder/BT Skull -> berserker Rage -> WW -> Defensive Stance -> Sunder/BT Next Prio -> Tab Target, Check threat and prio scary adds you're starting to lose

I've played Warrior all of Classic, though I won't pretend to be a theory expert. But I would say your rotation is WW > BT > Cleave with excess rage.

Berserker Rage isn't all that necessary unless you plan on taking damage in the pull, imo shouldn't be part of your standard rotation. Just use it conditionally if you think it will actually generate some extra rage. Unless you mean Bloodrage, which I would just use on your first open GCD or if you don't have enough rage for your first WW or BT.

Charge at the beginning of fight has always felt so minimal tome compared to just already being Berserker Stance and just running in, but it is theoretically better. If you don't charge, you can also Bloodrage as you are running in to get that running earlier and not need a GCD in fight.

Cleave is still only for excess rage because it is just like Heroic Strike. It doesn't just cost the 20 rage it says, it also costs the rage you would have gained from your next melee. You are better off casting BT and letting your regular melee give you some rage rather than using Cleave and being rage starved.

That's my take anyway.

WW -> BT -> Cleave only if you will have enough rage to immediately cast WW on CD again, repeat.

WW>BT>Cleave is the priority.

i wouldnt worry about cleave unless you have an excess of rage. which i doubt you have at lvl 50 unless youre dual wielding credit cards irl
