Where is the Depravity? Where is the Gore?
Alright I'm not a hater. I've enjoyed every Bethesda game I've played. But how is this game rated M? In the fallout universe there was no end to the horrors you would find throughout the Wasteland. Skyrim was no slouch when it came to violence, the KillCam is the reason I played for hundreds and hundreds of hours. Same with Fallout 4. kills were violent.
Maybe I went in expecting the wrong things. I've done it with games in the past. Even the bad guys in this game seem to just be jerks. I'll never forget the first time I walked into Nipton and saw what the Legion was capable of. not Bethesda, I know, but this is the sort of stuff I was hoping for. Maybe humanity has evolved.
I know in a year from now the definitive version will be very polished and fix a numbers of the gripes people have. But I think that the Mature Rated Adult Space Skyrim rpg I was hoping to play, will never exist.
What did I miss? What horrors did you encounter in side quests, that gave you chills, made you recoil in disgust? Do I just need to explore more? Where's my "Andale" planet? I don't want to wait for another Nuka World "Sort-of-evil-but-not-really" expansion. Has Bethesda just become too concerned with backlash, in a world that has to tip toe around anything remotely difficult to talk about?

I think the general vibe they were going for just wasn’t as dark as Fallout or the Elder Scrolls. While it’s not the only thing you can do, and definitely not the best, exploration is one of the major themes of the game.
I think the M rating is only because of drugs, swearing, and the fact you’re able to indiscriminately murder innocent civilians. Overall the game seems to be a lot more lighthearted compared to their other IPs
