Speculation on the Shimmering Frontier Update
Obviously take this all with a grain of salt. Nothing I say here is confirmed and I'm awful at making predictions, However...
I believe this update will have two bosses.
The devs have only ever really mentioned adding "a new boss" with this update, (with something of singular undertones) as far as I can remember. And the new reveal trailer showed off a new Sunken Sea boss, which seems to be summoned by means of material found in the upcoming crystal biome; but, I don't think it's the only boss. Look at this creature that was briefly shown in the reveal trailer:
Aside from the cinematic presentation of whatever this is (perhaps it is only a normal enemy: a crystal variant of the grub) this creature is not shown anywhere else. Basically nothing is known about it. While it could simply be a new enemy, or even a pet, there is an air of mystery around it. I think this could be a second new boss.
Whenever the devs mentioned the new boss, again, from what I remember, it was always implied it would be the boss of the crystal biome. The new bobbit worm looking boss in the sunken sea doesn't really scream "crystal biome boss" to me. But take a look at this concept art from the Korean Core Keeper twitter page:
Now whatever that thing on the top right is, that looks like a crystal biome boss. Obviously it looks nothing like the creature from the trailer, (aside from carrying a large crystal growth around, something they both seem to share) but notice something with the eyes; or rather, eye. In fact, most of the creatures in the concept art only have a single eye. What else only has a single eye?

I think there was something of a single eye theme originally going on during the process of designing the crystal biome. There also seems to be a bug theme for the enemies of this update too. (obviously not everything shown belongs to this new biome, as I'm pretty sure the crab is what can already be found in the sunken sea) Basically the point I'm getting at is that they always intended to create a crystal boss for the crystal biome, not something found in the sunken sea. While many changes may have been made along the way, I personally think we can still expect one; and not only that, I think it may have already been shown.
Thoughts? Is this all just some unhinged rambling assumption? Or rather is this a very obvious conclusion? Either way, we don't need to wait much longer to find out.
