Echidna Spd smoke vs Oath

Quick Question

Just quickly wondering if one was better than the other before choosing which one to inherit? Oath is nice for a bit more stats usually, but I hear smoke stacks with ice mirror well.

My A slot will be unity or A/S distant solo, while using VA and T4 speed Dr skill.

Definitely Oath 4. The problem with Smokes is that they're completely inactive for the first round of combat. You have to get in and initiate an attack on PP, otherwise you're left exposed for one round on EP, which can be crucial, especially in the high offense environment these days. With Echidna's poor base movement, actually getting in to set up Spd Smoke 4 for EP isn't easy. Also forget Phantom Spd - the fake stats it gives are not worth losing a seal slot for when you could use stuff with actual benefits like NFU, a Squad Ace seal etc. As a sidenote, Echidna can't use Ice Mirror, so idk where you're getting that from with Smokes

In comparison, Oath 4's conditions are mega easy, provide stats (which a lower gen unit like Echidna sorely needs) and warping, which makes getting her into position for mixed/EP combat easier

Ah gotcha gotcha, ya activating speed smoke is pretty conditional so I can see how the consistency is just plain good on oath, thanks!!

Ah and my bad, just didn't word clearly. I was meaning that Smoke can utilize the phantom speed effect from the tier 4 DR B skill, while also being able to increase retaliatory damage a bit from Echidna's prf's Ice Mirror like reflection.

Gonna go with oath tho for sure now, thanks again!

Oath imo. Spd Smoke requires her to engage in combat once for it to trigger, while Oath only requires her to be near an ally. Oath also gives her additional mobility and buffs, so she can get more stats from her weapon if she gets panicked. Sure, more DR is nice and fun, but kinda unnecessary imo.

I'd also recommend considering Gambit instead of Close Call or Spurn, since Echidna is one of the best users of it.

Yeah I was wondering when the point is where you should just stop stacking the DR and this is probably it lol, ty.

And yeah I was eying Gambit for sure, but being able to just print out the entire spd kit with Ganglot is super nice. I am keeping an eye out on future Gambit reruns since I ran out.

Different skills are good in different situations. C skills especially are more game mode/ role dependant. Where do you use echidna? Who else is on the team? What support do they provide? What specific enemies do you intend to counter?

Spd smoke is overrated imo. Only useful if you attack first on player phase and intend to tank each and every enemy in a single turn. Stacking damage reduction provides mitigating results as they stack multiplicatively. Phantom speed seal is trash and should never be used. But yes is works with t4 Dodge B skills effects that add to speed comparisons. And the stat bonuses and penalties from speed smoke can be supplied by supporting allies instead. Ice mirror is only on Fjorm, not relevant to echidna.

Oath provides more in combat stats which do stack with other effects. Added mobility is nice, especially for arena when mobility is limited while using rally+ skills for scoring.

Probably gonna use her a bunch - ARO, Arena, Summoner Duels, and PvE.

Teamwise I do use W!Cordelia with guidance a lot, and definitely planning to pair her up with L!Robin on his next rerun.

But yeah from what you've said and the general consensus is even if there is some mild warp overlap when I use Cordelia, spd smoke is a dead slot 1st combat which is pretty important. So oath is looking like the clear winner here, thanks!
