Sassafras tree damage

The top of my sassfrass tree got damaged by debris in a crazy windstorm earlier this year, should I do anything to help it or should I leave it alone? There is just a lot of exposed wood because of how it broke so I wonder if I should make a cleaner cut since it's already lost the top and the next branch down got stripped so badly.
