The biggest logical hole in the Fontaine AQ

Theory & Lore

It's been bugging me since the Fontaine release and I can't be the only one. In 4.0 Neuvillette said that the Primordial Sea is the origin of all life - so what the heck makes Fontainians so special? If the Seawater's properties changed from life-creating to life-consuming, whyever would it not apply to everyone? Who even qualifies as Fontainian anyway - is this a bloodline thing, or would being born in Fontaine suffice? What about people with mixed nationalities???

The only explanation I can think of is that the whole dissolving into water thing is a result of some curse - if that's the case, perhaps then it could work on how the person sees themselves; self-identifying as Fontainian places the curse on them. This theory is kinda supported by 4.1 AQ, >!where Arlecchino sates that she sensed some kind of curse on Furina. It could be that she's the anchor of the curse, so it works on those who consider themselves as her people, or something along those lines.!<

There's also the prophecy, but it gives me vibes of being created because the dissolving phenomenon exists. It could be the reason for it, I guess if it was tied to the curse...?

I'm at a loss, folks. Please share whatever thoughts you may have. Spoilers and leaks welcome, but please cover them appriopriately!

You'd have better luck posting in r/genshin_lore but if I had to hazard a guess we'd first need to know what the "Original Sin" is and why only people from Fontaine have it.

Lore people probably already knew the answer so better ask there iirc it has something to do with king Remus or remuria (I still haven't done my research yet) but if you don't want to read then I suppose act5 will have the answer for us

What about people with mixed nationalities???

Maybe they melt into Hilichurls?

I think it has something to do with what Remus did in the way back when before Fontaine was ever Fontaine when he experimented on the primordial waters and created ichor along with the sealing of the dragon king Scylla. Also something to do with Jakob Ingold and Rene's world Formula. A lot of information can be found on the world quest but they don't have all the answers just yet since the plot is still on going.

Because neuvillette is wrong about the primordial sea being the origin of all life. The primordial sea originally existed in teyvat meaning that it is part of the light realm. Creatures of the human realm and void realm were through other means so they cannot dissolve, or at least they should be. The traveler is the most obvious example. Why would an alien from a completely different world come from the primordial sea in teyvat?

You're making a lot of assumptions. How do we know the Primordial Sea was from Genshin's world? Maybe the Primordial One brought it with them or created it. If it did originally exist in Genshin's world, how do we know it was from the Light Realm? Maybe it's in the Void Realm too and created creatures there as well. How do we know creatures of the human realm and void realm were created through other means?

All we know is that the Primordial One created humans in Teyvat, but we don't know from what. It's entirely possible that they used the Primordial Sea, if only there was something linking the two together...

  1. Because it was on the surface of teyvat.

  2. “life evolved blood vessels to keep that primordial ocean flowing within itself. The beating heart that commanded this primordial sea of blood was the first Hydro Dragon.”

  3. Because humans are from the human realm and abyss creatures are from the void realm. The three realms inherently oppose each other

Personally i think that its may be connected to how "barbarians" joined dragon Scylla to rebel against god Remus. Could it be a curse from celestia for siding with a dragon over someone chosen by heavenly principals and "barbarians" being ancestors of modern fontainians?

1

Because their ancestors mated with hydro Eidolons.

If you read the fontaine windglider's lore, it may help shed some light on what the primordial sea actually is. (It's datamined since we can't yet obtain it, so you could consider it a leak I suppose)
