Does my landlord want to evict me?

Long story short my landlord my have smelled weed coming from my apartment. Later that day I got a message asking to set up a lease renewal inspection, however I had already signed up for another year a few months ago. Is this just a formality and a reason for him to come into my apartment to try and prove I was smoking or is this just routine and I am being paranoid?

I kind of feel like if he did smell it that would have been addressed directly something like "I smelled marijuana on the premise and wanted to remind you this is a breach of your leasing agreement, etc etc."
