Anyone else feel angry after getting treatment?
Like a lot of women, I was diagnosed late (2 years ago at the age of 25) and it’s been a whirlwind of emotion and experimenting with different treatment options. I finally feel like I’ve got a good medication regimen and am feeling vaguely confident like I might actually be able to take care of shit for the first time in my life. And it has made me feel very angry!
There’s the anger of realizing everyone else doesn’t feel like this all the time, but I experienced that more just after I got diagnosed. But now that I feel more confident in things, I’m constantly angry when I’m at work (teacher in the US) and I think it’s because before I never really felt like I could be that frustrated about certain situations because I had, intentionally or not, probably contributed to the situation.
But now I know that I can do things well and so I’m realizing for the first time in my career just how much the education system is so absolutely fucking broken and it’s making me furious. Like, obviously I’ve known this the whole time, but I also knew that my personal shortcomings were contributing to some/most of my negative experiences. And since now I don’t continuously feel like a chicken with its head cut off, I’m able to be a part of more committees and be more involved and it’s just an absolute fucking shit show. And I work at one of the best districts in my state!
Is this something anyone else has realized - with their job or other aspect of life? It’s genuinely feeling like I’ve been in a toxic codependent relationship and I’ve only been able to realize that it’s not my fault that it’s been so rubbish.
