POSITIVITY!

But, you may have thought about it already. Based on a true airman's experience (mine).

So once upon a time, i had to go before a board in the early morning, full service dress, and i was prepping my blues the night before. I realize the horrible truth --- i dont have my blues nametape. The metal one.

First, I panicked. Tore the place apart, but it was nowhere to be found. Desperation sets in. I check my clock, its 5:42pm. Exchange Uniforms shop doesnt close until 8:00pm. I move faster than an SrA after the "I NEED TWO.." phrase from a supervisor.

The situation grows more dire. The nice clerk lady cant help me, she can only order a new tape, and it could take 2-4 weeks to arrive. Well, that wont do.

For moment i considered taking a blank one that the BX sold, and writing my name on it. I have nice handwriting, and it seemed like the only way forward.

Charging back into the BX i go to the office section, but cant find a blue pen that matches the hue. Dread.

I buy my battery acid green monster and go back out to my car, throw on music, and try to mentally deal with my impending doom.

And then, halfway through a Evanesence song (Bring me to Life), and a quarter monster left, i think of it.

My only chance.

I rush to my unit, barrel for a computer, log on and open the email. Clicking on the address book, i filter by base, and punch in my last name. There, in the glorious white glow of a Air Force Computer, i see a list of 7 names, my people. My saviors.

I skipped the first option, due to fear (its sorted by rank, and he/she was a 0-4) but started calling the DSNs listed.

On the very last option, somone answered, thank god they had a swing shift. I got ahold of the airman, explained the situation, and met up with her at the BX and she let me borrow the nametape for a day.

Passed the board the next day, and had a great airforce week.

Disclaimer: This might not work for all last names.
