I think my best friend (F) might share feelings for me (M) but I'm not sure and don't want to risk it.
So I've known my best friend for like 11 years (we're 23 and 24) and we're very close. I've had on and off feelings for her for years but just kind of ignored it. I took her on a single date when we were 15 but there was some confusion as to whether or not it was a date so I didn't pursue it further.
Anyway, lately my feelings for her have been stronger than they've ever been. Genuinely have not felt this way about anyone before. But despite that, I've just ignored it because our friendship is very important to me and I didn't want to make her uncomfortable or make her think I had ulterior motives or anything. The feelings developed out of the friendship and I didn't become friends with her because I thought I had a chance with her.
Lately, I've noticed some things that could indicate that she feels the same for me. I even looked up lists of "signs that your friend has feelings for you" and a lot of them applied to her. But once again, I just kind of ignored it and assumed I was misinterpreting signs of a close platonic friendship as romantic ones.
But then I introduced her to my main friend group which consists of 5 guys (including myself) and 3 women. We all spent hours at a festival and had a good time. A few weeks later, I was talking to one of the girls in my friend group and admitted that I had feelings for my bestie. She replied "I KNEW IT. I SAW IT THE MOMENT I MET HER". As it turns out, all 3 women in the group noticed something between us that seemed more than platonic and not one sided. She said it was something about how we looked at each other and talked to each other. And one of the other girls said she'd be genuinely surprised if there wasn't something there.
So I'm not sure what to do. If there's a possibility of something more, I'd want to pursue it. But I don't want to risk the friendship if there's nothing there.
