I mean he can't be this tone deaf. He does know that as a politician, this is the standard statement of sending condolences to the victim even if they don't mean it (Not saying Rep. Omar isn't sincere but in general regardless of political party, officials always leave comments during tragedies for optic reasons ) I am not on Twitter that often but ever since the news of the attacks, Norm has been going on an unhinged posts about the media ignoring Israel's fascism. Even more disappointed he's replying with childish insults to fellow progressives who have a long history of also defending Palestinian sovereignty such as Mehdi Hasan, Owen Jones, and Amy Goodman.

Ever since he got "canceled" at a Palestinian rally by BDS activists, not to mention his blacklisted career in academia, Norm has been reduced to an old man who yells at the cloud. He has compared the BDS movement to a "cult". While there are a lot of problems with the movement such as the naive end goal of creating one state, to dismiss it completely is myopic. It's a flawed but grassroots movement that has rightfully denounced Hamas as dangerous to the liberation of Palestinians and has a concrete global following which is impressive compared to the crooked Palestinian governing officials. Why all this vitriol for BDS but he's then the man who praised Hezbollah and defended the attacks on Charlie Hebdo? Does his contrarianism now just come from simple concern trolling rather than actual concerns?

I welcome his attacks on woke culture but ironically he sounds more like his IDW New atheists rivals than an actual leftist critique. His focus is on Ibram X Kendi and anyone who dares to associate with him is portrayed as a "scammer" or "idiot". He acts like Kendi is a psy-op programmed to destroy the Left with anti-racial activism. No doubt Kendi is shady but compared to other folks Finklestein defends and praises like Jimmy Dore and Glenn Loury or even other "anti-racist" activists that are more ID -Pol focused like Tariq Nasheed and Umar Johnson, he's a nuisance at worse.

What has happened to Professor Finklestein? He and Cornel West went from anti-neo liberal crusaders to bitter and pompous self-indulgent scholars ala' Hitchens. West has tax issues and he's trying to make a quick buck but Finkstlein has to suffer from something other than a cognitive dissonance

What the hell is going on with Finklestein ?
