Baking soda on the mattress?

I’m just curious if anyone else has tried this. I’m trying to freshen up my mattress a bit and am planning on sprinkling it with baking soda, leaving it for a bit, then vacuuming it off. I’m just concerned about never getting all the baking soda out and making things gritty.
