We got handled
Look, we can say we got screwed by the schedule or complain about the injuries, but they had a better game plan on both sides of the and executed it incredibly well.
On Offense they shut down our RB both running and catching. They applied pressure limiting our TE. We managed some good passes to our WR, but couldn’t string enough of them together to sustain any drives. Allen wasn’t awful, but not locked in either. He under threw Diggs twice. The first time was the bomb, if he hits him in stride that’s a much bigger gain possible a TD. The second could have been a TD instead of an INT. diggs was easy in front.
On defense, we could not get off the field. The second half looked promising. Epinesa had a great game. We had Lawrence a little flustered and maybe a little injured, but we couldn’t get off the field on 3rd down. Those long sustained drives simply wore out our depleted defense. Elam was brutal on 3rd down and Riddley ate him up. Then the dagger was the long perfect toss to Riddley on 3rd down with Hyde in near perfect 1:1 coverage on a brave call.
Overall, considering what we had I thought the D played as good as could be expected. Offense was the issue and the inability to adapt to what they were doing. We didn’t mix it up at all or try to throw them off balance. Way too many flags on both sides of the ball. Way too many flags in general. The refs need to chill out a bit. I think it mostly evened out, but was leaning heavy against us early.
On to the next game
