My eyes hurt...
Giants fan living in Europe here and something I need to ask:
Couple of days ago, my kid went "look dad, that man has the same hat as you but the letters are wrong". And he points towards a guy with an orange/black "LA" dodgers hat...
QUESTION: Would you get such a thing in the US?
I asked the guy about it and he was oblivious to the fact that he was actually wearing a sports team logo on his hat, let alone that the colors were those of their biggest rival. He just liked the city of Los Angeles...
Regretfully he would not allow me to take a picture of (him with) the cap, but it did seem genuine apparel...
I understand that especially here in EU, Jay-z really "made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can" and that New Era is happy for the sales (together with all the bootleg stuff): People sport NY caps in the wildest combinations of colours (though I still need to see a red/navy version). I actually know people with a Mets hat that have been called out for wearing a fake... :-D
Recently LA is becoming increasingly popular as well so I fear it will not be the last I will see... but I cannot imagine you'd get this in US where the general public is (more) aware about the sport and its rivalries/history?
P.s.: each his own. If that guy thinks it is a nice hat, he can wear it all day long as far as I'm concerned
