Lore wise, would abra be used more as means of teleport transportation in the Pokémon universe?

In the johto games, an abra at the Pokémon league can teleport you back to newbark town, in Pokémon colosseum and XD the abra teleport you around Mt. battle to different areas or back to the reception.

So if any abra can teleport you without it even needing to be your Pokémon, wouldn’t the Pokémon universe just replace all forms of transport with just a giant network or abras to teleport people around to any city they want (instead of taking boats, trains, walking through routes etc) People might want the adventure or exercise, but surely some people would just want the convenience of instant commuting for their 9 to 5 job etc.
