Was given a mummified cat

A neighbor gofted me with it after finding it in a relatives barn. It has no fur left just leathery skin. I would like to make it into an articulated skeleton. Taking advice on how to remove the mummified skin. I live in an apartment so I can't bury it or anything. Thank you! .
