What makes exposed concrete and beige so “fancy” right now?

I’m in Brisbane, Australia staying in a “fancy hotel” that’s aesthetic I can best describe as exposed, polished concrete or whatever fancy rock like limestone is everywhere, beige and brass coloured for anything metal. There’s a bunch of restaurants and shops around it with similar variations on the same scheme.

Why is that the “fancy” aesthetic at the moment?
