Losing Faith in Police Departments

QUESTION

Over the last year I have found myself coming to resent police officers. Hear me out before you jump on your soap box. I am a very patriotic person. My grandfather, father, two of my sons and I have served our country in the military. I worked for the sheriffs department for several years before going PI, LP/AP and some contract. But more and more I see employees who work for my clients calling the police and the police flat out refusing to respond. One company handles supply chain logistics, ie long haul truckers. This is an essential part of our economy. But I’m seeing employees being held at gunpoint, robbery and grand theft auto, and left on the side of the road. So we give them panic buttons and tell them to call 911. We advise them to let the police handle it, to not do anything stupid. But then, even after calling 911 the police refuse to respond. This is most frequent in Ca, NY, PA primarily mega cities. I met with a Sargent for Oakland PD the other day who directly told me they did not have the man power to handle the volume of crimes. We recently had an incident where our driver was robbed, called 911 five times, the suspects left, came back and stole more while the driver was waiting on PD to arrive. The driver never even received a call back until 3 days later. But then I go to the gas station and see a PO writing up an 85 yo woman for driving 3 miles over the speed limit and it boils my blood. People are scared to go to work and the costs of added security is passed directly to the honest consumer. At some point someone is going to get hurt during these robberies and PD wants to know why the public is loosing faith in them. Let me be clear, this is not all departments but it is becoming very common. I know I can’t be the only one seeing this. Companies are closing all over the country because of these types of crimes. What are your experiences?
