Seriously?

I recently saw someone mention in a post that “only deaf folks can give out sign names”. Do people actually think that’s true?

When I was growing up and learning sign language a sign name was a quick distinction between you and someone else that made it easier to refer to you. The one that didn’t make you cringe was the name you would tell others, after finger spelling your personal name. I always thought of it as more of a nickname.
