Am I getting screwed?
I'm excited to say that after waiting since September '22 I've scheduled my appointment to pick up my Maverick this coming Friday. However, I'm a little afraid my dealership (who has otherwise been good to work with, in so far that they ordered it as promised and didn't bother me until it arrived) is trying to screw me on the final price and associated fees. This is my first new car (second total) and honestly the biggest purchase I've ever made, I feel a bit like a wounded fish in a school of sharks.
The dealership I've order through is in Vancouver, British Columbia and my order was specifically for a 2023 XL Hybrid (Area 51) with only rubber floor mats and a spray-in bedliner as options. I'm planning to finance a small portion (~32k CAD downpayment) over 3 or 4 years, and have X-Plan Pricing. The rate I was told I had "locked-in" was 4.49% APR.
My original "Preview Order" from September 2022 looked like this:
- W8E0 Maverick FWD (base vehicle) - $30100
- Federal Excise Tax - $100
- Floor Liners - $200
- Destination and Delivery - $2095
- Total - $32495
The bed liner was not included in the preview as I was told they would told they couldn't include it factory, and would have to do it locally.
My "official" financial summary I was emailed in preparation for Friday (which I had to ask them to send me multiple times, red flag IMO) looks like this:
Options
- Base vehicle - $33,295 (Destination and Delivery are included in here, but not sure where the extra grand comes from)
- Floor Liners - $200 (Thankfully same as before)
- Hotspot Removal Refund - +$25
- Selling Price - $33,470
Finance Deal
- Supplementary delivery allowance - +$975.00 (Not sure if this is somehow the X-Plan discount or just a weird roundabout way of putting the selling price back in line with the price from the preview order)
- Finance Placement fee - $575.00 (Not sure if this is standard, but I suppose I wouldn't be upset if it was)
- PPSA - $29.11 (BC Gov fee)
- Tire Levy - $25 (BC Gov fee)
- Tire and Rim - $499.00 (no idea what this is supposed to be, I have the stock rims and tires)
- Spray in-liner - $799.00 (this is $250 higher than what the option is advertised as on Ford.ca, I was not told it would be more expensive because I had to do the spray-in locally)
- PST - $2407.51 (Sales Tax)
- GST - $1719.65 (Sales Tax)
- TOTAL - $38549.27
Additionally, my original finance rate is not being honoured and I'm being told it was always 5.49% (a small increase given my downpayment I know, but still). I know it's not crazy compared to what some people are facing, but I'm quite new to this and I would appreciate some advice. Mostly I'm just not sure where the X-Plan savings are supposed to be, and if I have any recourse regarding the extra fees (tire and rim, Finance placement) and the increased Spray-in liner price.
Thanks everyone.
